Weapon & Solo is one of the best 2-book Sci-Fi series ever.
Robert Mason's 2-book series, "Weapon" and "Solo" is one of the best 2-book Sci-Fi series ever written. The author is aware of his technology and human nature. His striking archetypal images strike chords within the masculine heart and he reflects the zietgiest of the eighties, flawlessly. The movie version was an insult to the subtlety of his work. I've looked forward for years for the next Robert-Mason book and would love to contact the author or a fan club.

Hi-tech thriller it won't let you go when you pick it up!
Solo, a robot designed to kill, goes AWOL on his mission in Nicguaga, and finds himself at the bottom of a lake . When Solo reaches the surface and he relizes that he needs to recharge. Solo makes it to New York and makes friends along the way. Laura,a widowed bag lady, quickly becomes his friend using Solo not only as a friend but as protection. Solo is trying to rescue his young "brother" nimrod, a robot like Solo except stonger and newer. People like Admiral Finch and other officers want to have Solo killed or terminated but not if Solo can help it. This book is full of thrills ans spills. I highly recommend this book, i don't read alot, maybe the bible everyonce in a while, and this book caught my eye. I really recommend this book it latches on and does let go.

Thinking About Quality: Progress, Wisdom and the Deming Philosophy
Published in Hardcover by Times Books (April, 1994)
Authors: Lloyd Dobyns and Clare Crawford-Mason
Average review score:

A further description of the Deming Management Method
Dr. Deming called Dobyns and Crawford-Mason "the broadcasters and clarifiers of [his] message for a larger audience." Their book and PBS series Quality or Else introduced the general public to the Deming Management Method.

An Easy Read & Good Orientation to the Topic
This book or one similar should be a required first reading for those interested in more than keeping quality records. It orients the reader to the true driving force behind quality movements--burning desire for customer satisfaction. Have a copy or two in your facility library and make sure your new employees read at least the first 4-5 chapters.

Examples of successes across a wide range of organizations.
Drawing on their extensive work to produce the documentary "If Japan Can, Why Can't We?," the authors provide excellent examples of successes from quality focused organizations across the spectrum, including education and government. A good read for skeptics. A good motivator for those working through challenges.

Water Park
Published in Unknown Binding by Bt Bound (March, 2001)
Authors: Tom Mason and Scholastic Books

Malcolm in the Middle
If you like books that have a lot of humiliation in them you will like Malcolm in the Middle Book of Water Park by Mason and Panko. I like the authors, because they know what a kids life is like. And I think you will like this author as well as the book.
This book has a lot of revenge and screaming in it as well. Ever since Malcolm's brother Reese brought something embarrassing that Malcolm needs, but left home on purpose. Nothing but chaos has been happening.
That is why I recommend you read this book, and stick with these authors. And if you like this book, you should try other Malcolm in the Middle books.

Road Trip
I read the book Malcolm in the Middle, Water Park.

Malcolm and his family have planned a road trip to Wavetown USA. Malcolm's little brother, Dewey has an ear infection and has to stay with a baby-sitter.

Now let me tell you something about baby-sitters. For this family, they are scarce! Malcolm and his older brother Reese once locked one in a closet. It has been nearly impossible to get one since.

At Wavetown USA, Reese and Malcolm had problems of their own. Malcolm got chased to the top of the line of "the Liqidator" water slide, the most terrifing slide with its twists of black.

Meanwhile, back at home, Dewey is having his own share of bizare adventures. He has fun chasing balloons, getting to know a thief, earning money, and riding with "Santa" biker.

If you like comedy, get ready for the best vacation you have ever had with the zaniest family ever!

So Funny!
I just finished this book and I thought it was really funny. Reese is dumb but funny too. I was cracking up! If you like the show then you'll love the book.

Angelina and the Rag Doll
Published in Paperback by Pleasant Company Publications (August, 2002)
Authors: Katharine Holabird, James Mason, and Helen Craig
Average review score:

Cute Book, Nice Lesson
Angelina is given the opportunity to donate things that she has outgrown to a charity box for second hand items. She includes Polka, her rag doll from her early years as a ballerina, as one of the toys she feels that she has outgrown. When Grandpa comes for a visit, he reminds Angelina of the fond memories that she had with Polka, and she desparately wants the doll back. Is it too late to find the doll again? Angelina learns that growing up is not always easy, but charity has grown up feelings to replace the things you give away.

Entertaining and an excellent lesson
This is another of the wonderful Angelina Ballerina storybook series. In this book, Angelina gets the good news that she has been chosen to help Miss Lilly with the new beginners' class. But, tragedy strikes when Angelina gives some old things to charity, and finds that she has accidentally given away a treasured item. In the end, Angelina learns that giving can have rewards beyond anything she might have expected!

As with all of the Angelina Ballerina books, this book is a wonderful mix of entertaining stories and picture, and an excellent lesson. My eleven-year-old daughter loves this book, and so do I. We both recommend this book to you!

Arachne
Published in Paperback by Avon (February, 1992)
Author: Lisa Mason
Average review score:

Cyberspace Law
Sarcastic robots, urban aboriginals, genetically-engineered beauty, soul-stealers, registered drugs...Lisa Mason manages to make these ideas and concepts flow in a fast-moving tale filled with action and meaning. Unlike a lot of cyberpunk, the reader doesn't get bogged down in the technical jargon and slang...she somehow makes it more real. The concept of Artificial Intelligence coveting human consciousness is fascinating. What I really enjoyed was how Mason dealt with the legal ethics of corporate law...from a corporate lawyer's view. Another great read from Lisa Mason!

Hail Cyberpunk Women
I LOVED this book! Cyberpunk by a woman, and it's a winner. I highly recommend this book for cyberpunks who liked Neuromancer. This book is more clear. The sequel was good, also.

Bali (Cadogan Guides)
Published in Paperback by Globe Pequot Pr (November, 1989)
Authors: Anthony Mason, Felecity Goulden, Antony Mason, and Richard C. Overton
Average review score:

bali, a wonderful place.
This terrific guide to one of my favourite places in the world is an inspiration to all first time travellers to this sceptered isle.I particularly liked the third chapter which discusses my favourite part of Bali,Its a really beautiful place that all people should attempt to visit.

Must have for cultural visitors to Bali
I used this book to tour Bali in 1991-ish and found it an outstanding guide to the culture of Bali, a very unique Indonesian island. The best features are the excellent maps which illustrate the small, unpaved, unmarked roads. Although phone numbers and such may be out of date, these are not important to having a great time in Bali.

The Case of the Crimson Kiss: A Perry Mason Novelette, and Other Stories.
Published in Hardcover by William Morrow (March, 1971)
Author: Erle Stanley Gardner
Average review score:

Books of Mixed Merit
The book I've read consists of several novellas, including the title novel. Perry Mason finds himself with a client who has both intimate articles of clothing and other personal items inside the murdered man's secret apartment. She also had been drugged, as had her roommate; a drug that would have been fatal if her aunt hadn't gotten a doctor in time.

Mason finds himself with a client facing a murder charge, and an attempted murder charge; the death of her supposed boy-friend, and the attempt on that of her roommate. But he does have one clue... the lipstick kiss placed on the decendant's forehead.

A Collection of Novellas
The book consists of several short stories reflecting the range of Erle Stanley Gardner's interests. The feature story is a Perry Mason novella, where he finds himself defending a woman accused of murdering the man the police claim was her lover. She claims she doesn't know him, but she has his key on her keyring, nightgowns, lingerie, and even her toothbrush and toothpaste in his apartment.

Other stories revolve around the workings of a private detective working for a Chinese tong, a tale of a beaten man who comes to the desert, a clever jewel thief, and a private detective sharpshooting a case.

The collection is a good read, reflecting the storytelling skills of Gardner in many different ways.

Spence And Lila
Published in Paperback by Ecco (May, 1998)
Author: Bobbie Ann Mason
Average review score:

Emotional story
This book is very sad and emotional. The story of this couple is amazing. It makes you feel sorry for them, but at the same time happy because they share so much love.

A Wonderful Short Novel
This is a very short novel about a rural couple who have been married for more than forty years and the confusion and stress they face as the wife is hospitalized. It is a refreshing alternative to more popular and yet more sentimental stories that deal with spousal, parental, and sibling relationships and the conflicts associated with aging and mortality. Mason is a fine writer.

True love DOES exist
This was one of the most endearing love stories i've ever read. Spence and Lila are old and worn, but the love they have for each other is still pure and fresh, forty plus years after their marriage. That a love like this might exist, and the characters are so real that it is likely, gives me new hopes in life

Walkin' the Line
Published in Hardcover by M Evans & Co (15 May, 2000)
Authors: William Ecenbarger and Bill Ecenbarger
Average review score:

Personalizes basic geography
The recent book "Drawing the Line" by Edwin Danson details the technicalities of the work done by Charles Mason and Jeremiah Dixon in marking the boundaries of Delaware, Maryland, and Pennsylvania in the 1760s. Nearly two and a half centuries after that land survey took place, William Ecenbarger travels along the famous border not only to reminisce about that task but also to document some of the lives that have lived there since. It's not a pristine picture. Race relations loom large in his findings. Reverse Underground Railroaders snatched free blacks from the North and sent them south during the 1800s. KKK activity seems to thrive along the line, even up through recent times. For whites who are under the impression that civil rights and equality were successfully achieved by blacks either after the Civil War or in the mid-1960s, the accounts relayed here may be disturbing to read. Jarring, but necessary. Black and white photos of people, buildings, and places add much to the text, and the map at the end of the book is a handy resource to consult. Though Ecenbarger seems to have a fascination with more of the negative stories than the positive (i.e., while he mentions Mercersburg, Penna., he doesn't note that PA's only president, James Buchanan, was born there), this book remains a real eye-opener to those of us who resided nearby and never knew the truth.

Defining the line......
William Ecenbarger does not just tell us about how Charles Mason and Jeremiah Dixon marked a line dividing Pennsylvania from Maryland but he reveals how their line marked the boundary that speprated slaves from free negros and slave owners from abolitionists. The book shows that the Mason Dixon line goes not just from the east to the west it also goes through America's history from the days it was first surveyed until today. Read this book and find how the stone markers define the properties once owned by William Penn and Celilius Calvert (the Second Lord Baltimore) and how they also define a major part of the towns and citizens along it's path and crucial to our nation's history.

A delightful piece of stimulating literature
Bill Ecenbarger's Walkin' the Line is a delightful stroll along the entire Mason-Dixon. Whether its dropping into a bar for a chat with the locals or reminiscing about some long past tragedy, Mr Ecenbarger employs his considerable journalistic skills to deliver to us the unique record of the historical perspective of Mason and Dixon extraordinary achievement. As a treatment of the Underground Railroad, by which slaves from the South ostensibly sought freedom, Walkin' the Line is essential reading.
The book is an engrossing, often poignant, reminder of days gone by and of slowly changing attitudes towards race and culture. The conversations with the people he met during his journey are written in a lively and colourful style and fairly represent modern attitudes, feelings and symbolism for this, the most famous border in America and, probably, the world.
Read it and enjoy a rare piece of honest and entertaining writing.

Weapon
Published in Hardcover by Putnam Pub Group (March, 1989)
Author: Robert C. Mason
Average review score:

Excellent, but not his best
Of Robert Masons fiction books, this one is my favorite. But do yourself a favor and read his book "Chickenhawk'. This book tells a story of transformation during his tour in Vietnam. In some ways I think it has helped me understand my father as a Korean War veteran.

Terminator in South America
This is novel about a robot designed to kill, but being effected by the emotions that surround him. This is very similar to Terminator 2 but only set in South America jungle. It's is a book that is readable and has lots of action which is forseeable in the name

Hard to put down!
Weapon is about Solo, a Department of the Army Research Project into Artificial Intelligence who refuses to kill during a training exercise in Costa Rica. Solo runs away into Nicaragua and is rescued by village kids and when the Contras attack, kills 35. Lots of thought went into this book. The discussion between the village priest and Solo about souls is wonderful. I couldn't put it down. It has an appendix of readings on AI.
